Two Morse Sailing School Scholarships were created by AYC member and avid sailor Charles W. “Pete” Morse, Jr. who passed away in 2016.
These two scholarships are available to any child from age 9 to age 17 who cannot afford to pay for our sailing program but wishes to learn to sail. These scholarships are offered to help interested and dedicated children to gain the skills and valuable experience of sailing.
Application Deadline is May 31. Apply Today!
Please read and understand our program here.
You must be able to swim and have our downloadable form filled out by a professional swim instructor stating this.
The program is held at our clubhouse location:
115 Water Street
(see our contact page for a map)
The application for these scholarships is very simple. Simply download this PDF application form, fill it out by yourself or with the help of a parent or guardian and email or mail it back to us.
On the form, you’ll type in your name, your age, and your birth date. Then, we want you to write a short essay (or explanation), in your own words, on the theme:
“Why would you like to attend sailing school and why do you think you should have a scholarship?”
We can’t tell you what exactly you should write, but it should be whatever you feel best describes how you’d like to be included in our program. Don’t worry, we aren’t looking for spelling or grammar but for who you are and why you deserve this free program. We want you to keep it short, no more than 250 words.
You can include it on the PDF you download below, or you can send it in another PDF document from Microsoft Word or Notebook or any other text-based format along with your application.
Return your PDF attachment with an email to:
If you don’t have the ability to type something up you can mail in a handwritten application to:
